I come here all the time for dinner. 3 dishes for $20. What a deal! This includes unlimited rice and a free soup if you dine in. Take out gets a free box of rice. The selection for the 3 for $20 is pretty big about 20+ dishes. Ranging from your typical sweet & sour this to your more authentic pig stomach stir fry. Personally i love the BBQ omelette/Egg. Not over done, just right where it's soft and moist.I also usually add a fried salt & pepper fish filet. A lot of fried fish filet that's nice and crispy on the outside and firm and moist on the inside, topped with fried garlic and jalepenos.Third dish i usually prefer a vegetable or tofu dish. They give you pretty good vegetables. Nothing too old where it's all fiberous. Young tender chinese veggies.Service is adequate for a chinese restaurant. Plus plenty of seating available. This place is good for large or small tables. Parking is okay around Balboa ave. And for dessert you can walk next door to Purple Kow.This place is good for anyone who doesn't want to cook for a night or two (depending on how many people are eating, that determines your leftovers. haha). Feed a family of 3 for $20. What a deal.

This has become our go to place for dinner out and frequent delivery. Price for 3 items and rice is now $19.95 but still a deal.(feeds 3-4)The family banquets are great for the price. Delivery is usually fast and delivered with a smile. The Chinese Broccoli and spinach dishes are fresh and well-prepared. The Japanese dofu with vegetables on a sizzling platter is a tasty healthy choice. Still the choice for simple Cantonese home-style food.

Tried this place on http://seamless.com for delivery. I didn't realize it was next to Kim son a Vietnamese place I frequent often and has good pho broth. Back to this Chinese restaurant, very sloppy and not tasty at all. Had 7 dishes, all pretty much sucked. I rather have panda express. For example, walnut shrimp was too deep fried and had a puffy batter, wrong. No Mayo and dry. Also there was hair inside one piece underneath the batter. No need to discuss the further diss. Go to the Chinese seafood on the corner. Now I remember almost walking into Jade when pho kim was closed on tuesday. There was one customer so we decided to go to the seafood place. Anyway good job being online for delivery. I won't be ordering again.

Base line middle of the pack Chinese restaurant. Wide range of choices and if you speak Chinese they can make items that are off menu provided that they have it in the kitchen.Price range is reasonable for the level of food. There are several other choices in the immediate area and this one is a solid choice. Been here several times over the years and I have not had a dish that was not cooked to my liking.

Just went there for dinner the other day. Chose the restaurant because it was close to my friend's house. It's an unassuming Chinese restaurant. Nothing fancy. Just simple and clean. The food was actually good and tasty for such low prices. We had the 3 items for $20 menu. We had to order rice since it doesn't come with it, but it's ok.The Ladies' restroom was pleasantly clean so I'm giving the extra star. For me, a restroom's cleanliness is important in a restaurant. If I find it disgusting, it's a big turn-off.I will come back again.

3.5Food1) Cashew chicken lunch special that comes with wonton soup and egggroll = So it's nice they have a lunch special.2.) Sweet & Sour Chicken = I didn't like it... didn't even finish it...3.) Greens = fine4.) Steamed Fish = fine*This place would've used to get 4-star, but I couldn't even finish something I ordered there. And the cashew chicken that was okay... I started to notice their chicken tastes sour?? The first time I noticed it I wondered if the meat was bad. But it's like that all the time, so it's somehow part of their recipe. Which is beyond me. And the price for a Chinese restaurant is like a few bucks more and like half the quantity. They're next to Wash High School so they know they can up the price and skimp out on the quality and still benefit from the lunch rush from the kiddies. Feel bad but I give honest reviews. 3 star still means they're ok. I'll eat there if I have to. But I wouldn't prefer it.SERVICE:Friendly. Treats the regulars well.ATMOSPHERE:Typical chinese restaurant but a lil more casual.

This Chinese restaurant is located blocks away from Washington HS. Luckily, I haven't been here for lunch but I can imagine it being overrun by hooligans. I have, however, eaten here for dinner on quite a few occasions. The restaurant is cozy and features a large jade fountain at the entrance. There are tables that seat 4 and large round tables that probably seat 8? Anyways, the menu is quite extensive. I love how they have their 3 for $20 menu. You pick 3 entrees from their special menu and it comes with soup and rice. All for $20! Now that's a great deal. They serve traditional Chinese dishes like fried flounder with soy sauce and salt and pepper pork chops as well as Westernized-Chinese dishes such as Mongolian beef. Food is tasty and the portions are very generous, even for the 3 for $20 set menu.Service is attentive and friendly. Some of the waitresses, the owners' daughters, are bilingual in Chinese and English to make ordering easy. Their restrooms are also surprisingly clean for a Chinese restaurant, so that automatically says a lot about this place.

We moved into this neighbourhood at the start of the summer. I had previously lived around the Polk Gulch area so I thought I would be starved for good cheap eat out places nearby. It's pretty minimal but Jade Garden does the trick when we're either too lazy, too tired or in too much of a rush to cook or make it closer to downtown. Their potstickers (pork) are not the best I've ever had but are pretty good and the entrees are fragrant whether you like em spicy or not.I love the cantonese style chicken and mongolian beef here, and they have given me a nice local replacement for Bamboo on Polk.Obviously people have different tastes, and you can't like everything on the menu but they do a good job here, especially considering the price.

Although there are many Chinese restaurants in the city, Jade Garden is by far one of my favorites. Their services is quick and friendly and the food is great. Their spring rolls are the bomb, they wrapped their own spring rolls and each is fried to perfection. Their short ribs in black pepper sauce is one of my favorites. The beef is tender and not too tough. Unlike other restaurants, the size of the beef is so big parts of the beef is tough and other parts are just nasty! They have other selections and are willing to change things up depending on the customer's preference. This is a family restaurant all around. Family owned and family run and obviously, for everyone to bring their family there. The waitresses are quite entertaining, start up a conversation with them and they'll give their best advice in selection of foods. Oh yea best part of this restaurant is they are willing to change up some of the more fatty ingredients to more healthier choices and they even offer brown rice! the food is not just any normal fatty chinese food. The environment is pretty basic, the normal chinese restaurant style. Although there is a TV in the restaurant, like i said earlier it is a family style restaurant so STOP WATCHING TV and bond with your family!Overall, I love this restaurant and would recommend to anyone !!

Came for lunch after a long hike in the park, and was very pleased to find this place with its low-priced lunch specials. The staff was very friendly and the food came out very hot and fresh. The chicken (Kung Pao) tasted very, very fresh and I would order it again. The lunch special also includes wonton soup with big wontons (shrimp, I think), a large portion of rice, a pot of tea and an egg roll. Wife says the beef was a little tough--might not recommend the beef w/mix vegs--maybe we just got a bad batch. We liked the lighter sauce (compared to sugary coatings you often find) and would definitely return.

We were long time customers of Kams on Balboa, but when the heirs took over a few years ago, it began a swift spiral downhill. Since it appears that Kams is closed for good, we've been looking and trying many Chinese restaurants that serve comfort food. We've probably tried 10+ and some are so-so and others are health department hazards.Yesterday, after grocery shopping and getting a haircut, we decided to go out to lunch. We headed for the Balboa Street area and discovered the Jade Garden. Apparently it has been in business for a couple of years and there was another Chinese restaurant there prior. It is located a few doors west of the shuttered Kams. When we entered we noticed a troop of high school kids from Washington lining up and ordering to go boxes from a set-up in front of the store. Apparently Jade Garden was serving pepper chicken with either rice or chow mein for $3. Not a bad price for the hungry kids (so much for the push for healthy food on campus). The restaurant is clean and comfortable feeling. After the kids hour was over, the restaurant began to fill with regular customers. Jade Garden had an extensive menu and also a menu where you pick 3 items for about $20. Maybe next time we'll try that.We ordered a bowl of sizzling rice soup ($7.95) which had bell peppers, mushrooms, shrimp, snow peas, carrots, and squid. It had a good flavor, not quite as good as the old Kams, but adequate.Next we had some house special chow mein ($6.95) which had a generous amount of noodles, bbq pork, carrots, green onions, cabbage, onions, chicken, and chicken. It also was a tasty hot dish. Our last item was a rice plate special of beef w/bitter melon over rice ($5.25). It had tasty chunks of beef and sliced bitter melon that gave it a zest, but not too overpowering. The service was adequate as our waitress had a difficult time understanding English. Lastly the restroom was clean. We will come back again and maybe this place will be our regular comfort food restaurant.

The food is delicious! The prices are really reasonable. I love the three-set menu (you can choose three entrees from the list of three columns) for a set price. The price to go is $19.15 including the tax and a box of rice comes with it. If you eat in, it costs a dollar more because free soup is included. This a family run business with the chef having worked in some high end Peninsula Chinese restaruants.
